Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Industrial Field Supervisor, as part of the Industrial Operations team, will play an important role in helping Clear Water as we grow quickly and expand into providing new services, work in new geographic areas, and solve new water treatment problems. The Industrial Field Supervisor will perform a variety of tasks related to installation, operations, maintenance, and repair of our industrial water treatment systems across the region. This position will be expected to also perform various duties and special assignments within the Operations Department. Teamwork, adaptability, and a strong mechanical background will all be critical to success in this role.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

As the Industrial Field Supervisor, you will work closely with the Industrial Services Manager and Regional Operations Manager to install, operate, maintain, and repair various mechanical components of water treatment systems and other equipment across our sites. This position will also focus on troubleshooting and diagnostic assessments of field and shop equipment with the intent to remedy issues as quickly as possible to ensure top-notch service to our clients and customers and reduce or eliminate potential impacts to the environment. The Industrial Field Supervisor will also work closely with other teams such as our Fabrication, Maintenance, and Electrical teams to ensure all components and equipment are correctly installed and functioning as designed. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization and will have the ability to do meaningful environmental work with the Industrial Services team.

The following essential functions are listed in order of priority, with associated anticipated workload:

  • Operations, maintenance, and repair of existing water treatment systems including filtration equipment, pumps, motors, and other system components (45%)
  • Installation of new system components (15%)
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics (25%)
  • Supervising/directing other technicians and field staff (10%)
  • Other duties as assigned (5%)

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

Work is performed primarily in an outdoor environment at active sites, and/or within Clear Water’s functional fabrication shop. This position will be expected and required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas and while on site. Must be able to work in all adverse weather conditions, including long days and weekends. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required. Hiring is conditional upon satisfying a clean driving record and background check, and preemployment drug screening. This position will be expected to travel locally to field sites throughout Western Washington. Some travel may be occasionally necessary to support our sites in the Portland, Oregon region, potentially up to 10%.

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Experience with PVC plumbing installation and repairs
  • Experience selecting, installing, and maintaining pumps
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing pump, motor, and fluid system issues
  • Knowledge of both low voltage and high voltage electrical systems
  • Ability to read and understand basic CAD drawings including construction documents, wiring diagrams, and plumbing schematics
  • Ability and willingness to work long days and weekends participating in a rotating on-call schedule
  • Basic computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in the operations, maintenance, and repair of single phase and three phase motors
  • Experience with chemical injection systems and chemical metering pumps
  • Previous experience in manufacturing a plus
  • Previous experience with landscape maintenance, pump rebuilding, or as an auto mechanic a plus
  • Experience with water treatment: residential drinking water; commercial/industrial process water, stormwater, and/or wastewater a plus
  • Water quality meter use and calibration experience a plus
  • Chemically Enhanced Sand Filtration Operator (CESFO) a plus
